Hi All,
I took my GMAT today and received a very very disappointing score of (Q:48, V:28). I really dont know what happened. I started giving CATs 4 weeks ago and consistently scored between 660 and 690. I took Manhattan (all 5 CATs) and GMAT Prep #1 & 2. I was really hoping to score above 680 but ended up getting 590.

Guys,
Please help me in deciding if I should take the test again or apply with this score. My target school is NYU (Part time program), Westchester Campus.

I would really appreciate any help / suggestions. Thanks in advance

Did you feel anything went wrong when taking the GMAT or did you think you did pretty well? Did you have to rush through any part of the verbal or miss any questions? That seems like a big drop for Manhattan especially if your scores were consistent 660-690. I would think that such scores would make you likely to be between a 650 and 720 on test day unless you did not practice under real conditions.

Im sure your quant score is fine for Langone, but I think you need over a 600 for consideration unless you have some other super strong credentials. Their reported range is 620 to 730. I actually have an application in with them now. not sure if I will go even if admitted, but Ill be pretty happy if i do get in. Best of luck.

Hi fitzgerald23,
Thanks for the reply. Actually I didnt feel during GMAT that anything is going wrong. I was confident after Verbal section that I should atleast touch 650-670+. My worst verbal score had been 28 (and that was on Kaplan).
I gave some 9 CATs and average verbal score ranged between 28 (lowest) to 38 (highest), average being 34. After sweating for 3 months, solving OG12 & OG verbal guide twice, reading Manhattan SC, Powerscore CR and taking so many practice tests under real test conditions (with AWA), How can I fall down to such a miserable score? I am not giving up but its kind of disappointing. Even one real bad verbal score during CATs would have alarmed me but I never got one that I got in the real thing (23).

Others,
Please provide me suggestions for the retake. GMAT Prep starts again :(
