GMAT Strategy

Hey there -

I'm going to start taking my diagnostic exam today (before I look at my strengths/weaknesses and create a study plan), but I was intrigued on starting my own blog, like the co-founder himself: https://beatthegmat.blocked/

Can someone please point me in the direction to the following questions?

1. What's a good website to consider when starting my own GMAT blog?
2. Would creating my own blog be free?
3. How much 'space' and creativity do I have to creating my own blog?

One of the reasons I want to start my own blog, from past GMAT study experience is because apparently all the blogs out there either already have candidates who are either good at studying for aptitude exams or they are native english speakers and focus on their quant abilities. I am likely the opposite. My verbal skills need work and I want to show other folks in my position how beating the gmat can be done with people in similar positions.

I am hoping this blog be an inspiration to me (and seriously get my target score so I don't feel like a jacka$$) :0.

Thoughts?

piyushdabomb I can speak to this as I started my blog for the same reason!

2. Yup completely free!
3. It's your own blog... you have free reign over how creative you'd like to be. I like for mine to be for venting purposes. I purge my brain around 1am-2am with everything I thought of since my last post. When I've finished writing and hit "Post" I feel much better! It can be very therapeutic.

Also... put your blog url in your signature... you'd be amazed at how many people begin to follow your story! Especially if you post often!

I'm going to look at it. How do I know how many people followed?

If you add the "Follow Me" widget (which is really easy to do) it'll show you how many people are following you. I also added a Google Analytics pixel, so I can see some other data. That too was very easy to do...

Once you start blogging, it'll just become a living thing and as you start playing around with different things. Just start the bare minimum... and then it will evolve. Also, once you start following other MBA bloggers you'll see cool features that they have and you'll want it.

There's also Tumblr, which is kinda like WordPress meets Twitter in terms of people "following" your blog. You can read your dashboard of other blogs plus people can "re-blog" what you wrote, thereby expanding your readership. Plus it's super easy to use.

And no, I don't work for Tumblr.
