see the attached picture. Extending a line from point P down to the origin, you can see a right triangle of sides sqrt(3) and 1. General trig (SOH CAH TOA or 1,2,sqrt3 rule) will tell you that this is a 30 60 90 triangle. And the 1,2,sqrt(3) rule tells you that the hypotenuse is twice the shortest s...

this formula can only be used for addition.
For different types of progressions, check that link that r12007 posted. It's pretty good.

It's an arithmetic sequence. the question states that each consecutive term is 3 less than the previous. for instance, the 3rd term would be 3 less than the second term, which is 3 less than the first term (hope thats clear) 1st term = 23 2nd term = 23-3 or 23+(1)(-3) = 20 3rd term = 23-3-3 or 23+(2...

I used the AP formula and did it manually
tn=t1 + (n-1)d
-4=23+(n-1)(-3)
n=10
23, 20, 17, 14, 11, 8, 5, 2, -1, -4 <----10th term
can't see how 14 is the answer (t1 would have to be 35 for n to be 14).

D says that x is between 2 and 5 inclusive, so x can be 2,3,4, or 5 To rewrite: x=2 x=3 x=4 x=5 they are all straight lines without constraints when the question says 'what is A in terms of B', how do I set that up as an equation? When a question asks this there are usually two equations (with diffe...

How did you identify your weaknesses, what steps did you take to plug the gaps. I basically lack in verbal skills but there is no particular section I can point to as bad. One section (say CR) I would have performed badly on one test day, in the same section (say CR) I would have done well on anoth...

Good luck with your apps--looks like we'll be seeing you around the Stacy Blackman area soon. No time soon. More like 4-5 years. I still have to build up the work experience. I've just finished undergrad and have been working for about 4 months. I decided to take the GMAT early (while my brain was ...

If I were you I'd ignore the quant for now and just focus on the verbal. Start with SC since that's the easiest to improve. I recommend the Manhattan GMAT SC book and Sahil's grammar notes (google it). Afterwards concentrate on CR. Don't guess on any questions. When answering questions try to explai...

As for the 2nd problem... ABCD all have possible choices that make the solution a straight line. eg. x^4 >=1 x=2,3,....or -2,-3.... Choice E states that the line 3x+4 is constrained at two ends 3x+4 >=2 so x>=-2/3 3x+4 <=6 so x<=2/3 so the line 3x+4 is constrained at -2/3<=X<=2/3 so E is the answer

X m/s = Y km/hr
km/hr can be rewritten as 1000m/3600s
X m/s = Y1000m/3600s
m and s cancel out, so Isolating Y...
Y= 3600X/1000 = 18X/5 (C)
