I am getting 0 (A)
This is one damn lengthy calculation though...I know you were asking for an efficient method but I am just happy that I could solve it after 4 mts..There must be a faster way.
Is 0 right ?

My Algebra is a little rusty, so can you clue me in how you get 4 when you use 1/n + 1/(n+2) = 5/12? Thanks! No problem. Here are the steps. Taking common denominator. n * (n+2) = n^2 + 2n Left hand side of the equation would be n+2+n / (n^2 +2n) Cross multiplying (2n+2)*12 = 5(n^2 + 2n) 24n + 24 =...

I am getting an answer of 9:1 (E) Here's how. C/W = 3/2 in a total of 10 lts of cocktail 3x + 2x = 10 x=2 So, currently 10 lts of cocktail will have 6 lts of C and 4 lts of W Remove 5 lts and we now have 3 lts of C and 2 lts of W to which 5 more lts of C are added which would make the new cocktail h...

Another easier way to solve such problems is by plugging numbers. Since Jar A is 1/3rd full with water and Jar B is 1/4th full with an equal amount of water, we could choose a common multiple of 3 and 4 which would be 12. 12 lts of water added to Jar A would make it 1/3 rd full Total capacity of Jar...

I do not have any specific document on slopes but Manhattan GMAT's Geometry strategy guide seems to have pretty decent info. I have some notes from it and will try to send over.

I hope I remember this one correctly, but the median of a group would be the middle value of this group. Say you have 2, 4, 6, 7 and 10. The median would be 6, since it's got 2 numbers smaller than it and two numbers bigger than it. When your series has an even number of elements, then you calculat...

Positive slope means that a line extends upwards from left to right. Since the line has x-intercept of 4, it should have a negative y-intercept.
So, choices D and E are gone.
Next area of triangle (1/2)*4*h = 12
So, h = 6 but since y-intercept should be negative the height should be -6

I would choose E. X alone takes 12 days to produce 2w widgets. Let n be the number of days Y takes to produce w widgets. So rate of work for Y is w/n. X takes 2 more days than Y to produce w widgets. So, rate of work for X is w/(n+2). Both combined can produce 5/4w widgets in 3 days - so, in one day...

Most of the difficult problems from the OG should already have been discussed on this forum at one time or the other. I hope you have tried searching for them. Sometimes searching for the question number works when searching by a unique word from the question fails. For those that haven't been discu...
