My bad
Hi, As Ian pointed out, I went and read the GMAC research paper and he was right and the number of experimental questions are fixed for both sections. However, I was right that the initial questions bear more impact on your final score and as Nauman mentioned what we have problem with is the magnitu...

Score Procedure
Hi Ian, As I mentioned in the post above, in my website, I tried to simplify CAT which means it is not going to be 100% accurate but I believe that is better than knowing nothing and acting uniformly as if it is a paper-and-pencil test. However, the statement of "not being accurate at all"...

CAT
Hi, Thank you for your attention to my blog. I agree with you that what I said is a simplistic view of the reality. In the third link that you posted, the author mentioned how a patchy performance might delay CAT to determine your base score which is very accurate. As a computer science major specia...

Two solutions
Plug-in some random numbers : if t = 4 then area of height of triangle will be 2V3 (2 times root 3) and its area will be 2 * V12 / 2 = V12 Now for the square to have an area of V12, S * S = 12 ^ (1/4) then S is root of root 12. Now the ratio of t/s is : 4 / (12 ^(1/4))

CAT
Hi. Basically any CAT-based test is like playing chess or backgammon. the difficulty of the next question depends on your current answer. Also, beware of those experimental questions, whether you get them right or wrong, have no effect on your final score. Again depending on the score you need to ge...

Depends on your target score
It really depends on your target score... For example, if you need around 650 and your math is great, then you will be ok. Make sure you do great in Math no matter what! But if you need higher scores, then you should break down the "verbal" section into bits and pieces and see really what ...

When you see something as huge as this, it signals that you should plug-in numbers and use POE technique. If y = 4, and x = 0, instead of a triangle, you will have a straight line with the length of 4! it will be like this Q ------------- R Now, according to the question, you will walk this line twi...

I took PR tests and I agree with you that people generally do better on the actual test - which is a good thing! I know PR penalize not completing the test far more than the actual GMAT. Also, since PR isn't using the real CAT algorithms, the results are more linear. It means if you do poorly in the...

What is your target score? Depending on your target your strategy might change. If it is around 500, just forget about whatever you are weak at and allocate more time for those stuff you are good at it. Spend a lot of time on the first 20 questions of both verbal and quant. That way CAT will give yo...

It is not that hard. Don't bother yourself with scores right now. try to use these tests as a way to find out your strengths and weaknesses. At the beginning it is ok to spend your time and energy on the weaknesses. But later on you should accept them as a weakness and work on your strengths. During...
