Scored 660 , need help !

by rahul312 » Fri Jun 08, 2012 9:01 am
Hi all ,
Couple of months ago while scrolling through this website i read some article about the new gmat pattern and how it was going to make it more difficult and that people should try and give it before that , I think this was an article from Kaplan . So i thought for a couple of days and decided to take the test . Unfortunately the latest date was a month later otherwise i had to wait till 5th june .Finally I decided to give it a go , giving myself around 35 days for the exam . So i studies for the exam as much as i could(or so i think since had to manage all this with office work presssure) and well scored a disappointing 660 .The break up was 49q,31v . Also i must tell u that my maths is pretty ok so i didnt have to study much for maths . I gave 90 % time to verbal and still scored pathetically .
Well that was my small background and now i would like some suggestions as to what i should do to get my verbal scores up . when i studies for the test i referred manhattan sc , og12 , kaplan 800 . Please suggest how should i study and what should i study to improve my verbal . I plan to give myself 2 months this time . Please suggest ...

Hi, there. I'm happy to help. :)

First of all, when you take the test again, you will be facing the Integrated Reasoning section. Here's a free eBook I wrote about the new IR section.

So, you want help with the verbal section. I'd like to suggest Magoosh test prep. We have 200+ video lessons, teaching you all the content and strategy you will need, including a long series on grammar for the SC questions. Here's a free grammar video.

Each one of our 800+ practice questions has its own video explanation, for quick feedback and accelerated learning. Here's a free practice RC question.

When you submit your answer, the following page will have video explanations for both the passage overall and for the question in particular.
Here are some post from our free blog that you may find helpful:

Particularly relevant to you is Magoosh's score guarantee --- if you use our product, we guarantee an increase of at least 50 points or your money back --- that would be at least to 710 for your score --- most of our clients see a much bigger increase.
Even if you decide not to purchase Magoosh, I hope you find the free blog articles helpful. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Mike :-)

thanks magoosh for the quick reply . Will certainly look into all the material you have posted , specially the sentence correction and critical reasoning ones , as they seem to be my problem areas .
Any other suggestions people ??

Hi, :)

Kaplan and Magoosh are very useful for the verbal section. Look into the materials and also use flash cards. :)
