D for sure

Obviously we have to choose between C and D. C should be wrong because it changes the meaning of the stem by eliminating "acknowledging". Discussions won't begin with a fact, they will begin with the acknowledgement of a fact or event.

D is right as it flows smoothly.

C includes ''with the fact'' which is terrible grammer.

acknowledging is proper.

Also ''there is'' flows doesn't flow with now.
