kaplan word problem

bob and alice can finish a job together in 3 hours . if bob can do the job by himself in 5 hours , what percent of the job does alice do ?
1. 20%
2.30%
3.40%
4.50 %
5.60 %

If Bob does it alone in 5hrs then in 3 hrs he does 60% of work so in 3 hrs Alice will do 40% or work.

If Bob does the job alone in 5 hours then his rate is 1/5 per hour - in three hours he does 3/5 of the job leaving Alice with 2/5 of the job to do which is equal to 40%.
