Hi everyone,

Originally, I started preparing for the GMAT in March. As a part of my study plan, I joined the Veritas Prep program and finished in May. Today I took the GMAT and got a 560. Not trying to bash Veritas here, but I just don't think it worked on me because the GMATPrep and actual exam were a lot harder than what I had expected.

My results are as follow:

Quant: 39
Verbal: 28

Terrible, I know. :(

Now I need a new strategy to attack this exam as I'm wanting to retake it in about a month -- any later would mean missing out on this year's application deadlines. I want a score decent enough to get into a top school. This is a very ambitious goal, but I am willing to study intensively for the next month. Please help as I would appreciate any advice!!!!

Sorry to hear about your GMAT experience! If you are interested in a self-study approach for your second time around, I recommend taking a look at the Beat The GMAT Blog. This is one example of what a successful study strategy could look like. What you'll find here is a strategy that emphasizes heavy analysis of your errors and tactical practice schedules.

Keep your head up and stay persistent! Your hard work will pay off, good luck!

especially on the quant side, the problem may lie in your general approach to studying the problems. specifically, if you're comparing the difficulty levels of individual problems, that may indicate that you're excessively focused on those individual problems and not focused nearly enough on the connections and relationships between the problems.

for more details on the proper philosophy with which to approach the problems - especially the quant section - see my post here:
