Which one is better? My long-term goal is to work in public sector. I think that Johns hopkins' curriculum will fit my career goal. But Hopkins' MBA is brand new. Please give me any advices.

Hi there,
When you say "the public sector," what region are you thinking. The advantage of Europe (IE) and name recognition of an established school in that region is an obvious benefit.
But if you are in the US, and would like to work around the Washington, DC area, you may be able to cross-register at the brilliant Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. Definitely something worth asking of the Hopkins/Carey admissions and faculty.

Where are you located now?

Thanks, Betsy Massar

Thank you for your replying. I want to build up my career regarding the institution such as world bank. Actually, I am an asian student, educated in the U.S.A., and worked as a banker for 2 years. In addition, I am not sure that IE MBA reputation will affect where I live even though I know IE is one of the best european business school. Also, I want to find a job in the U.S.A. so I think that I can't find a job in the U.S.A if I study in spain.

How do you think that IE mba reputation is better than Johns hopkins MBA in the U.S.?

As you mentioned, I also want to study international affairs in SIAS for my career. I think that it will fit my future career.

please give me advises.

EssaySnark says, IE is a known and well-respected brand name, with an established career services office and outreach efforts. Many multinationals recruit there. Obviously yes, it may be easier to get a job in the U.S. if you're in the U.S. However, do not expect the same depth/breadth of opportunities to be available through oncampus recruiting at a brand-new school. Recruiters will not be coming out in droves to visit Carey. Perhaps Carey will leverage their career services of another graduate school, to help their MBA graduates. But Carey is not on the map yet.

EssaySnark says, Johns Hopkins does not HAVE a reputation. IE is better.

EssaySnark suggests, maybe these questions should have been asked before applying. Why go to the trouble of applying to a school in Spain if you don't want to go to school in Spain?

EssaySnark's opinion is that IE is better than Johns Hopkins, however, you will get out of bschool what you put into it. Same is true for recruiting at the end of the program. Many people are placed through career services, but a good number find jobs on their own. It sounds like in both cases you should expect you'll need to do the latter, for either of these schools. If that's the case, why not go to the school that is a recognized name and that will give you diversity of experience -- particularly if you're interested in going somewhere like the World Bank?

It really depends where you want to find a job after you graduate. If you want to work in public sector in US, I would suggest you go to Hopkins MBA because it is very close to Washington DC where tons of public sectors located.
