Manhattan GMAT Question Banks

by san2009 » Tue Apr 20, 2010 12:31 pm
Has anyone tried Manhattan GMAT question banks? They seem quite hard to me....just want to gauge opinion of fellow Gmatt-ers. Thanks.

I tried their online question banks which were quite easy. Their maths questions in CATs are harder than actual GMAT while verbal questions are almost similar to real GMAT questions.

i don't think we are talking abt the same question banks. because i find the math questions banks harder than the actual MGMAT CAT math questions.
Helpful to know that verbal in tests is on par with GMAT prep. thx

Two types of question banks are available with every MGMAT book.
(1) basic concepts and basic problems about the book which you have purchased (Which is very easy, even a student from the school can solve it..)
(2) Those cruel MGMAT CATs. (THE TOUGHEST one.. tougher than actual GMAT)

If you are in final phase of preparation than I will advise you to pay more attention to those MGMAT (cruel) maths question. In actual GMAT those sort of questions will not come but your concepts, fundamentals and strategies will improve drastically after those tests. I gave 5 MGMAT test in last 4 days before actual GMAT. I never scored more than 43-44 in quant section. But in actual GMAT got whopping 49.

Their verbal is at par with GMAT. In normal circumstances, whatever score you get on those MGMAT test, add 20-40 points and that will be your actual GMAT score.

During the practice tests, I found Kaplan tests more difficult than any other tests.

That is v helpful.
Unfortunately, on my last MGMAT CAT i got 690. And then I tried GMAT prep, hoping to score a little higher on them. However, I scored 690. Then I took the second GMAT prep test and still scored 690. Thus, back to the drawing board.
I will check out the free Kaplan diagnostic as a practice test. Thanks.

Don't force yourself during the test. Go and enjoy each and every question. That is the biggest thing I learned during my preparation.

There is a little problem with kaplan. If I am not wrong then their free test which is available on their site is not a CAT. You may have to buy some kaplan book to get those CATs. (There will be four CATs and several hundread other questions). Do remember one thing that Kaplan are notoriously known for demotivating students. Those tests are pretty tough. You would like to check other forums and response from other test takers prior to investing in kaplan. Tests are wonderful but very very demotivating. I never scored more than 550. lol..

Thanks. Will keep that in mind.
Have you taken the test already? Mind if I ask what did you score?
If you haven't taken the test, then what were you scoring on MGMAT CATs and GMAT Prep, even though score on Kaplan test was 55?.
Just trying to put the three in perspective.

My GMAT score is 600 (Q49 V23). In Kaplan my highest score was 630 while in GMAT Prep it was in between 630-650. In Manhattan CATs I scored in the range of 610-660.
