by cramya » Fri Oct 31, 2008 5:51 pm
Found this question in this forum:

If the prime numbers p and t are the only prime factors of the integer m is m a mutiple of p^2 t?

1) m has more than 9 positive factors
2) m is a multiple of p^3
OA:B
Guys I am sure most of you guys may be aware of this but anyways just felt like it sharing it since I am having more success than before with DS questions . This may have been brought up beforein thsi forum but dint find one so sharing it with the group..

To whom it may benefit: :D

Strategies

1) TRANSFER ALL INFO IN THE QUESTION to the worksheet

Eg:

This is how I set it up

Q: Is m a mutiple of p^2 t??

Stmt I) to check if A) or possibly D) depending on teh results after evlauating statement II

A) prime numbers p and t are the only prime factors of the integer m

B) m has more than 9 positive factors

Stmt II) to check if B) or possibly D) depending on result obtained form statement I

A) SAME AS ABOVE(dint rewrite it since I wanted to save time but you could if that extra 5 secs is not going to hurt us depending on how our time management)

B) m is a multiple of p^3

If either dont give u the answer

then

Stmt I and II To check if C) or E)

A)prime numbers p and t are the only prime factors of the integer m
B)m has more than 9 positive factors
C)m is a multiple of p^3

Feedback/Suggestions welcome. this may look like a lot but I think its very doable in 2 minutes

Good luck All!!!

Each one has their own way that works for them but the key takeaways is to TRANSFER ALL INFO TO WORKSHEET in a format that you can understand. Solving the problem depends on an individual's knowledge or experstise on a particular subject but this would be more of a STARTING POINT just so we dont overlook.miss any piece of info given

Hope this helps!
