C - the arrest is not the evidence that after the bail-out Schnitzer stopped peddling. Or it could be that Schnitzer wrote his memoirs when released in 1790s, about how he started peddling when he was 10 years old.
E- again, Schnitzer might have been arrested for being under suspicion, but D.A. couldn't find enough evidence. Or maybe Schnitzer get high and was fancying.
