(T1 + T2 + T3)/3 = 40
T1 + T2 + T3 = 120 -- (1)

(T2 + T3 + T4)/3 = 41
T2 + T3 + T4 = 123 -- (2)
Subtracting (1) from (2),
T4 - T1 = 3
If T4 = 42,
42 - T1 = 3
T1 = 39

The temperature was 39 C on 1st of June.
