what's the source of this question?

i'm not so sure that the official problems would allow "more than" to be followed by a tensed verb -- i would have to see this sort of construction in an official problem before i could accept it. it looks wrong to me.

there's no problem following "more than" with an infinitive, or with an -ing form, but i don't like seeing it followed by a tensed verb.

Source looks like 1000SC, unreliable source; I found one more thread for same problem.

(E) Degler does more than merely summarize

VERB "summarize" is plural. Why? I could not understand.

Summarize is not the complete verb, it is actually "does+summarize-->summarizes" which is || to "constructs"
