In his best-selling book The Omnivore's Dilemma, which social critics see as yet another piece of evidence to support their thesis of a burgeoning interest in natural food among Americans, Michael Pollan elucidates industrial farming, explains organic farming, and discusses hunting and gathering food for oneself.

OA seems to be A

B is out as elucidates .......explaining .....discussing are not parallel
C The meaning of the sentence is changed. Michael Pollen did not write the book for the benefit of the critics that was a by product.
D Michael Pollan is not serving as yet another piece of evidence ......
E same as B

A is also a well made sentence, the non essential clause 'which social critics see as ........among Americans' is rightly set out by commas. Secondly elucidates, explains and discusses are parallel, interestingly there is one more parallelism here ...hunting and gathering .........which is also correctly set out in this sentence, hence I go with A.

What is the OA @reply2spg?

Hi all!

IMO A

answers B and E both include clauses that are not parallel:
"elucidates industrial farming, explaining organic farming and discussing hunting and gathering food for oneself."

answers C and D change meaning of original passage.

Hope it helps!

Initially i was a little weary about the idiom evidence to support but since all the options use the same idiom there is no issue. I thought the idiom should be evidence in support of .. but i've checked. both idioms are correct. Evidence to support that and Evidence in support of

Michael Pollan, in his best-selling book The Omnivore's Dilemma, which social critics see as yet another piece of evidence to support their thesis of a burgeoning interest in natural foods among Americans, elucidates industrial farming, explaining organic farming and discussing hunting and gathering food for oneself. - In his book Michael does three things, elucidates industrial farming, explains organic farming and discusses hunting and gathering food for oneself. "explaining" modifies the entire preceding clause. It seems to indicate that in the process of elucidating industrial farming, Micheal explains organic farming and discusses .blah blah.. which is incorrect. We are given a list of three distinct items and these items should be put in parallel.
