GMAT prep PT1 - symbol

Why stmt 1 is not sufficient? And how to work out stmt 2? IMO D but OA is B.

Addition and Multiplication are both commutative properties. Hence from 1 you cannot say which function is represented.

From 2, you can definitely say that Multiplication is represented by Delta.
The best way would be to expand assuming either Multiplication or Addition and seeing which satisfies.
