Researchers are finding out that plastics are taking more time to deteriorate than they originally seemed.

A] they originally seemed

B] it seemed that they would originally

C] they seemed originally

D] it originally seemed

E] it originally seemed they would

OA is again E, but I didn't get why??? Usually in sentence correction sentences the emphasis is also placed on the simplicity of a sentence and whether you are able to understand the sentence easily in short not wordy.

But here I see the the wordy option is the correct answer.

Please experts help in this question, these questions are giving us a hard time...

Hope these questions really helped for a difficult level...

Why is D wrong?

D] it originally seemed

E] it originally seemed they would

i think E is just clearer than D.

In D 'it' is ambiguous.
E clearly states that "it" is just standalone.

Why is 'IT' in D ambiguous. Do we refer to researchers by 'IT'. The 'it' in D is clearly referring to plastics.

Please correct me if wrong!

"It" cant refer to plural subject u need "they". Also using "they" for plastics cant discern the intended meaning of the comparison.

The sentence after replacing "plastics" with "they" will be
"Researchers are finding out that plastics are taking more time to deteriorate than
plastics originally seemed."---> for this part "plastics originally seemed"

1. there should be something present that depicts likelihood of something i.e. the use of word "would" as in correct option. This statement just shows the previous finding as something certain. Researchers just predicted.

2.Its NOT making much of the sense regarding the comparison between researcher's findings i.e. the new finding and the previous finding.

Hence its only E that's much clearer than either A or D

Hope it helps..!!
